So You Want to Be a Fairy Queen?

If you, or someone you know has ever dreamed of the chance to be a Faerie Queen, the Fairyland Trust could be the answer.
As part of a new fundraising initiative to help their conservation and education projects they are now offering a ‘cash for honours’ scheme. For £30 each Fairy Queen receives a named certificate with a unique design based on the Fairy Garland of wild flowers. Queens specify their title and day (for example a birthday) on which they reign in full splendour. They can also be listed with a photo on the Fairyland Trust website.
The Fairyland Trust is dedicated to ‘conservation for the little people’. Britain’s meadows and woodlands are fast disappearing which is bad news for the Fair Folk as well as wildlife. The Trust aims to raise awareness through Fairy Fairs and workshops, in addition to setting up new Fairylands and rekindling almost lost traditions such as Maypole dancing.

Ohh! Wow… what a lovely Idea..ok thats me then..
Great news on the link thank you very much I didnt know about this.
Mind you, What i would like to see is a similar thing that happens at American Renaissance Faires and Faerie Gatherings over the pond.. More people attending these events and indeed event organisers asking people to attend in Costume..
I`m on a mission to write to as many UK organisers to ask them to start advertising this fact.
When you see pictures of these events its only ever the enactors that are dressed up..
I think Brits are a bit more reserved when it comes to dressing up! Though I have attended the odd event where people other than the re-enactors were in costume and it gives it a more festival-like vibe. Joust was a good one for that kind of thing.
