FairyLove Bespoke Wings

Well I hope you joined in with yesterdays Wings day. If not, why not? If the answer is you have no wings may I point you in the direction of FairyLove. Jason and Shelley have been making wings for over a decade, and in that time no two pairs have ever been the same. Each pair is created with love and magic (and ample glitter) to have a transformative effect on the wearer.
You can buy ready made wings direct from their site or at one of the summer festivals they attend in the UK, but the real fun is in commissioning a pair from scratch. You pick a style and then work with Shelley and Jason to create a bespoke set of wings, unique to you and you alone. There is an extensive gallery of past creations on the site to inspire you, as well as many other fairy accessories such as tutus, leg warmers, and feather boas (and don’t forget to check out the edible fairy poo!).
‘Wear’ Are Your Wings Day
Grown from an idea on the Live Journal Glamourbombs community a few years back, the idea behind this day is to wear your ‘fairyness’ with pride and make the world a little more glamorous. Whatever you are doing today – going to work, school, having a picnic, climbing a mountain – add a little extra sparkle and don your wings. Sideways glances from passers by are guaranteed! You could spread the wings-love by making little paper wings to hand out to them so they are not missing out on all the fun.
The website hasn’t been updated in some time, but I would love to see Wings Day become a regular event. If you are wearing your wings today, send us a picture!

Lazing about in the summer sun is very Fae. However, plastic garden furniture is not. This then could be the solution to all your problems – you literally grow an armchair from your lawn! You build the cardboard structure, fill with earth, sprinkle with grass seeds (wait for it to grow) and hey presto! An aesthetically pleasing, organic seat to rest those weary bones when you tire from dancing amongst the daisies. I can just see a group of them nestled around a toadstool table, perfect!
Available from Purves and Purves.

If you, or someone you know has ever dreamed of the chance to be a Faerie Queen, the Fairyland Trust could be the answer.
As part of a new fundraising initiative to help their conservation and education projects they are now offering a ‘cash for honours’ scheme. For £30 each Fairy Queen receives a named certificate with a unique design based on the Fairy Garland of wild flowers. Queens specify their title and day (for example a birthday) on which they reign in full splendour. They can also be listed with a photo on the Fairyland Trust website.
The Fairyland Trust is dedicated to ‘conservation for the little people’. Britain’s meadows and woodlands are fast disappearing which is bad news for the Fair Folk as well as wildlife. The Trust aims to raise awareness through Fairy Fairs and workshops, in addition to setting up new Fairylands and rekindling almost lost traditions such as Maypole dancing.
