The Fairy Tales of Charlotte Bird

August 25th, 2006

Titania by Charlotte Bird

Charlotte Bird’s beautiful creations hark back to a gentler era of Fairy art. Her photography is reminiscent of the softly focused, hand-tinted images of a bygone time – it is not surprising to hear that Charlotte is influenced by the romanticism of the Victorian period. The pictures are charming, sweet and enchanting without being twee. A recent visit to Cottingley Glen provided the inspiration for a series of images based around the original Cottingley Fairies story, again continuing the ‘old fashioned’ feel. The beautiful website also has some lovely poems written by Charlotte to accompany the art.
