The Kiss of Two Worlds

The Kiss of Two Worlds by Alicen Geddes-Ward

Jessamyn Fawn is torn between her two lives – that of a librarian living in the mundane confines of suburbia and her secret life as Faerie Priestess. Her work within the Faerie Ring takes a new turn after a Beltane ritual, which leads her further and further into the Faerie realms – and to a spiritual and sensual awakening that threatens to unravel Jessamyn’s everyday life. Jessamyn realises that in order to truly be herself she must find a way to bring these seemingly opposing worlds together.
The Kiss of Two Worlds is Faeriecraft author Alicen Geddes-Ward’s first novel. Definitely an adult fairy tale, it is particularly compelling for anyone who has ever had to conceal the secret heart of themselves. The evocative and lyrical writing directly engages the reader, drawing you into Jessamyn’s world and allowing you to catch a glimpse of her thoughts and feelings. Anyone who practices Faeriecraft would be well advised to read the book for its many descriptions of rituals and experiences. However you needn’t be a practitioner to enjoy this entertaining and thought provoking novel.

Fees Divers

Fées Divers is a new French magazine dedicated to traditional faerie tales and legends, as well as the contemporary Faerie literature and arts. The first issue is due out in April, and follows the theme of dark faeries. The magazine appears to concentrate on literary review, with short stories, poems and articles that include a look at French faerie literature and others on writers Tanith Lee and Angela Carter. Other articles include Faeries ‘Most Wanted’, the Art of Brian and Wendy Froud, Neil Gaiman’s Stardust, the enchanted forest of Brocéliande and a host of reviews of recent faerie books, comics, films and music. The cover art is by Marie Guillaumet, who is also featured in an interview.
The website has a small selection of articles already on line, and if the design of the printed magazine turns out to be as nice as the website, Fées Divers promises to be very interesting indeed.
