3 Wishes Faery Fest
Surely the event of the year for all UK (and beyond!) faerie fans, the debut 3 Wishes Faery Fest will be taking place on June 22nd to 24th in mystical Cornwall. The festival is a family friendly celebration of music, arts and enchantment, with a fantastic line up of acts including the Mediaeval Baebes, Priscilla Hernández, Daughters of Elvin, Elizabeth-Jane Baldry and more. There will be a faerie procession and midsummer masquerade on the Saturday, workshops from Fairyland Trust, a fashion show, stalls and special guest artists. The ticket price also includes camping on site at Colliford Lake Park, but if you prefer a proper bed at night the website has details of alternative places to stay.

Published by Vertigo, God Save the Queen is a new hardcover graphic novel written by Mike Carey and lavishly illustrated by John Bolton. Set in North London and the Faerie kingdom, it tells the story of a rebellious teenager who falls in with a group of slacker faeries. She discovers that for faeries, the ultimate rush is Red Horse, a drug made from heroin and human blood. It’s a dangerous high, and when she gets hooked she’s drawn into a civil war that becomes a struggle to the death between Queen Titania and her predecessor, Queen Mab. Definitely for mature readers, this looks to be a darkly imaginative collaboration between two talented creators.

Trudi Finch Fairies
‘Away with the Fairies’ is a beautiful series of cards and prints by Trudi Finch. Reproduced from her original dry point engravings, each one is printed onto handmade paper and individually coloured. The canvas prints are more fluid in style than the cards, but both show echoes of Rackham and classic fairytale illustration, with twisted trees, stunning butterfly wings and floral details. Indeed, Trudi is well known for her flower studies and has had many solo and group exhibitions since starting to paint full time in 1980.
