Flingling Art is the online gallery of Kajsa Flinkfeldt, a Swedish fantasy artist. Despite having only turned to the fantasy art genre in recent years, Kajsa’s faeries and fantasy maidens are extremely accomplished with luscious colours and particularly finely rendered flowing fabrics. In addition to working as a free-lance illustrator, Kajsa also teaches art classes to teenagers.

The Ladies of Grace Adieu is a delightful collection of short stories written by Susanna Clarke and illustrated by Charles Vess. Clarke of course wrote the celebrated ‘Jonathon Strange and Mr Norrell’, a novel concerning the rise of magic in Regency England. This collection deals more fully with Faerie as a place and with it’s enthralling and capricious inhabitants. Characters from Strange and Norrel make an appearance and stories mentioned in brief in the extensive footnotes are here given in their entirety. There are many elements of traditional folk stories recognisable in Ladies of Grace Adieu, but Clarke has retold them charmingly. Charles Vess’ illustrations are as ever a beautiful addition, whilst the whole package of the hardback edition with its decorative clothbound cover is a pleasure to read.

Faerieworlds once again returns to the Secret House Winery on the weekend of July 21st and 22nd. The line up for 2007 includes Woodland, Kan’Nal, Gaia Consort, Lisa Thiel and many others. Brian and Wendy Froud will be returning as Guests of Honour, along with Holly Black, Amy Brown, Jessica Galbreth, Neil and Alicen Geddes-Ward, plus other top artists and authors. This is a spectacular event which grows in popularity each and every year. Not to be missed!
