Low Impact 'Hobbit' House

Inspiring in so many ways. this is a real family home built into a wooded hillside in Wales. It was constructed (by hand!) with maximum regard for the environment using natural and salvaged materials. The wonderful organic shapes and closeness to nature alone would make all the labour worth while, but when you factor in the £3000 costs it really puts things into perspective. Definitely a faerie friendly way to live!

So that would make the cost about $6000 in the USA, right? Lemmeesee, with land at $10,000 an acre (rough cost in my area) and the hassle and cost of building permits, inspections and ‘reqirements’ in building due to zoning, I might be able to build something like this for… $165,000…
