Grey's Lake Fairy Door

Visitors to Grey’s Lake Park, Des Moines, Iowa, have been puzzling over the mysterious appearance of a small door at the base of a cottonwood tree, overlooking the lake. The tiny door is of wood, with fine brass fittings. Behind the door lies a compartment, with a notebook and pencil, and notes from someone (or something!) calling themselves ‘Seamus O’Grey’. People have begun leaving little gifts for the tree’s inhabitant, including ‘Gnettie Gnome’, a little friend to keep Seamus company! The little door has certainly captured people’s imagination, even making it to the local television news show. It just goes to show that magic can be found in the smallest places, if only you take the time to look.
