This month we’re pleased to feature the work of Marc Potts. Living and working in an old thatched cottage on the edge of Dartmoor, Marc’s art is infused with the spirits of this wild place. It speaks of ancient creatures and hedgerow magic. Describing himself as ‘an avid devourer of all things folkloric’, Marc’s art and writing reflects this. He has contributed to numerous projects, including a jewellery range created in collaboration with his wife Kelly Martinez, and the Shared Legends project. French sculptor Emilie Etienne creates gorgeous fantasy figures including faeries and dragons. She also works as an illustrator, using ethereal photographs of her figures to create the artwork for numerous projects like books and album covers.

Wicked Fae is the online portfolio of Melissa Findley, freelance illustrator and artist. She is primarily a digital artist but works with a variety of traditional media. Our first Featured Artist of 2012 is Dan Goodfellow. An artist/illustrator living and working in Glastonbury UK, Dan draws inspiration from mythology and legends of his Celtic homeland, the imaginings of his inner world and the vision of great artists before him. French artist Godo illustrates fantasy role playing games, comics, video games and book covers with his richly imagined faerie world. His first fully illustrated book Petite Anthologie des Farfadets, while his next, Les contes de la forêt d’Orthana will be published in 2012.

Underwood Photography is a portrait studio based in Essex, MA. An encounter with a faery ring 8 years ago led to the founding of an annual Faery Festival, held at the studio every June. This event now welcomes over 500 little faeries and is having to move to larger premises to accommodate everyone. Jacqueline’s award winning faery portraits are available as a 2012 calendar published by Avalanche.

This month we are pleased to welcome John Pilkinton as our Featured Artist. British based John is a former photographer and modelmaker who has since returned to his love of drawing. This led to the creation of ‘Les Grimoires du Faerie‘, John’s attempt to communicate with the unseen and largely ignored worlds. His work combines artistic nudes with the odd nod to art nouveau, in a very striking graphic style. John will be exhibiting in the Brick Lane Gallery, London as part of the Art in Mind Exhibition series 10-23rd April 2012.

Emily Balivet’s beautiful paintings explore the mystical feminine elements of ancient goddess mythologies in a style that echoes her interest in the Pre-Raphaelite and Art Nouveau movements. The paintings portray faeries, witches, goddesses and medieval maidens, and many have faerie beings hidden amongst the rich foliage. A multitude of original paintings, prints and cards are available through Emily’s etsy store.

This month’s Featured Artist is Lauren Kelly Small, AKA Ginger Kelly. Born in Australia, Lauren’s love of drawing and storytelling began as a youngster, and she now works as a freelance illustrator and graphic artist, as well as making jewellery and clothing for her Jasper and Pearl label.
