Lost in a Victorian fairyland, she’ll do anything to find her way home – if only she knew where home is.
In a culture of cravats and corsets, a troubled sixteen-year-old stands out in her t-shirt and torn jeans. She takes the name “Memory” because hers are stolen, and she’ll do anything to get them back. Lost in a world not her own, where magic and monstrous fairies are real, Memory has enough to handle just trying to stay alive. Chased by wizard hunters, hunted by a dragon, stalked by a strange, handsome savage, despised by the fae and wanted by the king himself – everyone is after Memory, and she suspects it’s not just for her eye-catching outfit. Her forgotten past holds dangerous secrets that will change everything. Memory will fight to get back to a family and home she can’t remember but desperately desires, even at the cost of new friendships and romances. On the run with no name and no memories, she thinks she has nothing left to lose. She couldn’t be more mistaken.
Memory’s Wake is an illustrated novel for older teens by Selina Fenech. It is the first of a trilogy, with Selina being hard at work on books two and three. You can buy signed copies direct from the author, or unsigned from Amazon and various other stores.

I frequently marvel at the amazing work of Omar Rayyan, artist and illustrator of numerous children’s books, gaming cards and concept designer for The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. But it is his personal work I find most enchanting, ‘paintings of whim and fantasy’ featuring faerie folk, forest creatures and surreal portraits. It’s quite inspiring stuff! Much of his work is available as prints via the Studio Rayyan etsy store.

UK artist Ollerina’s playful paintings have a charming vintage style, and are filled with frolicking faeries and pixies. Unsurprisingly the vintage inspiration comes from Ollerina’s (aka Karen Hurd) avid collecting of vintage illustrated children’s books from the Golden Era of 1900-1930. But her work isn’t a pastiche – it manages to feel fresh and modern too. You can buy cards, badges and other items featuring Ollerina’s art on Etsy.
