The Faery Ball returns to the Acorn Theatre in Penzance (Cornwall, UK) on October 24th. Come join the revelry in your Faerie finery for an evening of music, magic and enchantment. Tickets are £15 and are available to purchase now.

Les Rencontres de l’Imaginaire

This is the fifth year of French arts festival Les Rencontres de l’Imaginaire, which will be held over August 1st, 2nd and 3rd at Castle Comper in the magical forest of Brocéliande. The festival brings together many of France’s great fantasy artists and writers in an exhibition and programme of workshops, talks, signings and musical performances.

Faeries on Stage

Faeries

Faeries is a stage production featuring puppetry, dance and storytelling, suitable for all the family. Set during World War II, the plot follows the adventures of Edie, a young girl who finds herself lost in Kensington Park one evening. The production design takes its cue from the art of Arthur Rackham, with gnarled twisted trees and impish Faeries. The show has just finished a short run in London, and will now be performed at Bath’s Theatre Royal from July 22nd to 30th.

Fairy and Medieval Market

The Fairy and Medieval Market returns to the city of Paimpol (Côtes d´Armor, Brittany) from August 21st – 24th. Visitors can experience the sights and sounds of the Medieval era with a little fantasy thrown in for good measure, with carefully selected re-enactors, exhibitors, stalls, food, art and entertainment.

Fairy Gardens in Sussex

Wilderness Wood is a park set over 61 acres in the beautiful Sussex High Weald (UK). Over the August summer holidays it will be hosting a series of Fairy garden workshops. Find the fairy place and listen to a story about the woodland elves. Make a garden in the woods for the elves and fairies to enjoy, and a wand to take home. The workshops are on August 5th, 13th and 19th, and visitors need to pre-book tickets.

World of Faeries Festival

World of Faeries 2008

The World of Faeries Festival is now in its fourth year and will be taking place over the weekend of August 2nd & 3rd, with Vasa Park, Illinois (USA) the venue once again. Visitors will be entertained with live music and performances, vendor village, and events specially for children. Entrance is only $10 for adults, and children under 12 get in free.

Since the dawn of time, creatures of the unknown have fascinated cultures the world over. From medieval fire-breathing dragons to the magical powers of the unicorn, mythic creatures have captured the imagination. Now, examine the legend and the science behind some of the most fascinating creatures ever invented. Enter the fabled world of dragons, journey to the depths of the ocean and soar above the clouds to uncover the origins of the powerful, dangerous and magical beings that have been a part of the human experience for thousands of years. Preserved specimens, cultural artifacts and works of art highlight the surprising similarities and differences in the way people around the world have envisioned these myths. Today, mythic creatures continue to live on in the everyday lives of many cultures—and now they live at The Field Museum.
Running from now until September 1st at The Field Museum, Chicago. The exhibition will then go on tour around the world.

Faerieworlds 2008

The fantastic Faerieworlds is even bigger and better for 2008, taking place over three days, August 1st to 3rd at the Secret House Winery, Eugene Oregon (USA). Friday is Good Faeries Day, Saturday is Bad Faeries Day and Sunday is Family Day, where children get in free. This years Guests of Honour are Amy Brown, Jessica Galbreth and Brian and Wendy Froud are hosting the event, while the line up of performers includes Woodland, Qntal. Priscilla Hernandez, Zilla, Kan’nal, Estampie, Trillian Green, plus many more.

Labyrinth of Jareth 2008

This year’s Labyrinth of Jareth will be taking place over the evenings of July 11th and 12th at the Henry Ford Music Box, Los Angeles. Confirmed acts for 2008 include Brother, Orbis Lazuli, Desert Sin, Sylphirance and others, spread over three stages. The organisers go out of their way to create a suitably fantastic atmosphere, and unsurprisingly tickets often sell out in advance. Masks and costumes are mandatory at this event, so don’t miss the opportunity to dress in your finest attire.
