Visitors to Grey’s Lake Park, Des Moines, Iowa, have been puzzling over the mysterious appearance of a small door at the base of a cottonwood tree, overlooking the lake. The tiny door is of wood, with fine brass fittings. Behind the door lies a compartment, with a notebook and pencil, and notes from someone (or something!) calling themselves ‘Seamus O’Grey’. People have begun leaving little gifts for the tree’s inhabitant, including ‘Gnettie Gnome’, a little friend to keep Seamus company! The little door has certainly captured people’s imagination, even making it to the local television news show. It just goes to show that magic can be found in the smallest places, if only you take the time to look.

I can see so many Glamourbombing possibilities with the Starglow resin chips from Glowtec. The gravel-like chips are made from non-toxic glow in the dark resin and are safe for use indoors and out, and are completely water resistant so can be used in ponds too. They would be great for marking Fairy paths and rings through gardens and woods, which only appear with a magical glow once it is dark. It comes in green, red, blue and purple, so you can mix and match colours for even more spectacular results.

Just a bit of fun – if you have ever wanted to try a spot of Glamourbombing but didn’t know where to start, here is a simple project for you.
Simply save the TROLLco card and print it out. Fill in your Troll’s details and leave under your nearest bridge! You can set a scene by leaving suitably grubby coffee mugs or playing cards, as if the under bridge operative has just popped out for a while.
To save right click the picture and ‘save as’, or drag to desktop. Print on good quality thick paper or thin card. Finally, you could laminate the card or use a plastic ID wallet to make it look ‘professional’.

Grown from an idea on the Live Journal Glamourbombs community a few years back, the idea behind this day is to wear your ‘fairyness’ with pride and make the world a little more glamorous. Whatever you are doing today – going to work, school, having a picnic, climbing a mountain – add a little extra sparkle and don your wings. Sideways glances from passers by are guaranteed! You could spread the wings-love by making little paper wings to hand out to them so they are not missing out on all the fun.

The website hasn’t been updated in some time, but I would love to see Wings Day become a regular event. If you are wearing your wings today, send us a picture!
