Chris Down

Chris Down is a self taught artist and illustrator who for many years specialized in producing Celtic art. During that time, he also produced a large number of images, mostly pen and ink, for over 35 books. Among them were the best selling Real Witches series of books by author Kate West and three books of his own. The most recent of his books comprised a set of some 250 fantasy motifs. Work on this book convinced Chris that he wanted to concentrate on Fantasy Art and figurative painting in particular. He is influenced by traditional oil painters ranging from the Pre-Raphaelites to modern artists like Boris Vallejo, although his main medium is now digital. Chris lives near Stonehenge in an ancient landscape that has shaped his approach to his work and life.
